The Final Showdown
For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.... And they gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon. Revelation 16:14
Have you ever watched a movie where the good guys and bad guys have one final, epic battle? That's exactly what the Bible tells us will happen someday in a place called Armageddon!
Long ago, a famous French general named Napoleon Bonaparte stood in a place called the Valley of Megiddo in Israel. Looking around at the huge open plain, he said, "All the armies of the world could fit their soldiers on this giant battlefield!"
The plains of Megiddo have seen TONS of battles throughout history. Egyptian pharaohs, Canaanite kings, and Jewish judges all fought battles there in Bible times. Even in modern times, the British army defeated the Ottoman Turks there in 1918. So it makes perfect sense that God chose this famous battlefield for the final showdown between good and evil.
Revelation tells us this massive battle will happen at the end of the Tribulation, right before Jesus returns to earth. Evil forces will gather to fight against God, but SPOILER ALERT! They don't stand a chance! JESUS WINS!
The super awesome part about all this? After this final battle, Jesus will set up His kingdom on earth and rule with perfect peace and justice. No more wars, no more fighting, no more bullies (not even Satan!)—just the perfect world God always intended!
Think About It: How does it make you feel knowing that Jesus will win the final battle against evil? What part of Jesus' coming kingdom are you most excited about? Would you rather have a world with no sickness, no sadness, or no fighting? Talk about this with your family and imagine together what Jesus' perfect kingdom will be like!
