Happy New Year’s Eve! Tomorrow starts a brand-new year! As you think about the year ahead, you might feel excited, nervous, or a little of both. After all, you don’t know what’s going to happen in the new year!

Here’s something cool: God has put “eternity” in our hearts. That means He’s given us a longing and excitement for something BIG that’s coming—eternal life with Him in heaven! We know something amazing is waiting for us, but we don’t know all the details yet. It’s kind of like waiting for Christmas morning when you know presents are coming but don’t know exactly what they are!

The Bible tells us that some things are “revealed” (that means God shows them to us), but some things are “secret” and belong to God alone (Deuteronomy 29:29). We don’t know everything God is planning to do in our lives or in the world. We don’t know what the new year will bring. But we do know this: God loves us, He’s in control, and His plans are always good!

So as you head into the new year, you don’t have to be scared or worried about what you don’t know. You can trust the God who does know! You can have faith that He’s working everything out for good, even when you can’t see the whole picture!

Take Action: End this year and start the new one with faith! Get a piece of paper and fold it in half. On one side write “Things I Know” and list things you’re sure of (like “God loves me,” “Jesus died for me,” “God is always with me,” “Heaven is real”). On the other side write “Things I Don’t Know” (like what will happen this year, what my future holds, etc.). Then at the bottom of the paper write: “I will trust God with BOTH!” Say a prayer thanking God for what you know and asking Him to help you trust Him with what you don’t know. Then have a great new year trusting in God every single day!
