Have you ever had a really hard day and wished someone you love could be right there with you? Maybe you were scared at night and wanted your mom or dad nearby, or you were nervous about something at school and wished your best friend was with you. Having someone we love with us makes everything better!

That’s what the name “Immanuel” means—“God with us”! Seven hundred years before Jesus was born, a prophet named Isaiah told a king that God would send a special sign: A woman would have a baby and name Him Immanuel. That was God’s way of saying, “I’m coming to be with My people!”

And then, exactly like Isaiah said, it happened! An angel told Joseph that Mary’s baby was from God, and His name would be called Immanuel—God with us. Jesus is God who came to live with us, right here on earth!

But here’s the super cool part: Jesus is STILL with us today! Even though we can’t see Him, He promised, “I am with you always.” And He sent the Holy Spirit to live inside everyone who believes in Him! So you’re never, ever alone. God is always with you!

Think About It: When do you most need to remember that God is with you? Maybe when you’re scared at night? When you’re worried about a test? When you’re feeling lonely? Pray to Jesus when you’re feeling alone and call Him Immanuel (“God with me”). Thank Him for always being with you!
