Promises Are Commands in Disguise!
By faith Sarah herself also received strength. Hebrews 11:11
Here’s a brain-twister for you: Did you know that every promise from God is also kind of like a command? And every command from God has a promise hidden inside it? It’s kind of crazy, right?
When God promises something, He’s also telling us to trust Him (that’s the command part). And when God commands us to do something, He’s promising to help us do it (that’s the promise part)! See? Promises and commands work together!
Let’s talk about Sarah. A lot of people remember her as the woman who laughed when God said she’d have a baby when she was super old. But the book of Hebrews remembers her differently—as a woman of FAITH! Even though she had doubts sometimes (we all do!), Sarah kept believing God’s promise. And that faith made her strong!
Sometimes you might feel like your faith is weak. Maybe you wonder if God really hears your prayers or if His promises are really true. That’s okay! Even Sarah had questions. But she kept choosing to believe God anyway, and her faith grew stronger and stronger!
Every time you read a promise in the Bible, remember that God is also commanding you to trust Him. And every time you obey God’s commands, remember that He promises to give you the strength you need!
Action Step: Go on a promise hunt! Find one promise (or more if you want!) in the Bible. Write it down on a card. On one side of the card, write what the verse is promising you. On the other, write the command God is giving you. Let’s try an example to get you started. Psalm 46:1 says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Now, on the promise side of you card you could write, “God promises to be my refuge and strength!” Flip the card over and on the command side you might write, “God commands me to go to Him for help when I’m in trouble.” Pretty cool, huh? Now it’s your turn!

PARTNER WITH us

As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, the importance of family has always been a core value in my life. I have been a pastor for decades, watching families grow and generation after generation come up in faith. That is why Bible Strong Kids is so important to me. What better legacy to leave for our children and grandchildren than to raise them up in faith, strengthening them for the journey ahead all the way into adulthood?
I hope you will join us in this endeavor to create the next generation of Bible Strong Kids—children who know their worth in God’s eyes and are equipped to shine His light in an increasingly dark world.
