Recently, a man in Texas was looking through some of his old things, and out of a book fell a Pokémon card that he had used as a bookmark as a boy. It was only worth a few dollars back then, but twenty years later, he discovered this pristine holographic Charizard card was now worth $8,000! He had no idea he owned something so valuable!

Sometimes we’re like that man when it comes to the gifts God has given us. We might think, “I’m just a kid...I don’t have anything special to offer God.” But the truth is, every single one of God’s children has been given special gifts, and sometimes we underestimate how valuable those gifts really are!

Maybe you worry too much about figuring out exactly what your spiritual gifts are, when you could be spending that time actually using them! The apostle Peter kept it simple: “Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another” (1 Peter 4:9-10).

That’s something you can do TODAY! You can be kind to someone who’s having a bad day. You can help your mom with chores without complaining. You can invite a lonely kid to play with you. You can share your snack with someone who forgot their lunch. These might seem like small things, but to God (and to the people you help), they’re like priceless treasures!

Take Action: Stop worrying about finding your “official” spiritual gift and start using the gifts you already know you have! Are you good at making people laugh? Use that gift to cheer up someone who’s sad. Are you good at organizing things? Help your mom clean up the craft closet. Are you a good listener? Spend time with someone who needs to talk. God will show you more gifts as you use the ones you already have!
