Hard Times Teach Us
The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning, but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth. Ecclesiastes 7:4
Nobody likes sad times. When something bad happens, we wish we could make it go away. But the Bible says something surprising: We actually learn the most important lessons during the difficult times, NOT during the easy times!
It makes sense when you think about it. When everything is going great and you’re having fun, you don’t really think deeply about God. But when something bad happens, you start asking the big questions: “Why did this happen?” “Where is God?” “How can I get through this?”
When something hard happens, start seeing it as a time you can get closer to God. He is your Heavenly Father, and He will be there for you! If you’re scared or worried about something, trust that God knows what He’s doing. If your feelings are hurt, ask God to comfort you. Eventually, that difficult time will go away, and when it does, you’ll be even closer to God than before!
Remember, even Jesus went through hard times. In the Garden of Gethsemane, right before He was arrested, He prayed, “Father, if possible, take this away from Me. But not what I want—what You want.” Even Jesus learned important lessons through difficult experiences!
Think About It: Have you gone through something hard recently? Maybe your family moved and you had to leave your friends. Maybe someone you love is sick. Maybe your parents are going through a tough time. It’s okay to be sad! But can you also look for what God might be teaching you? Maybe He’s teaching you to trust Him more or to be brave or to help others who are sad. Hard times aren’t fun, but they can make us stronger and wiser if we let God teach us through them.

PARTNER WITH us

As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, the importance of family has always been a core value in my life. I have been a pastor for decades, watching families grow and generation after generation come up in faith. That is why Bible Strong Kids is so important to me. What better legacy to leave for our children and grandchildren than to raise them up in faith, strengthening them for the journey ahead all the way into adulthood?
I hope you will join us in this endeavor to create the next generation of Bible Strong Kids—children who know their worth in God’s eyes and are equipped to shine His light in an increasingly dark world.
