Have you ever tried to describe something so amazing that you couldn’t find the right words? Maybe you saw the most beautiful sunset ever, or visited an incredible place, and when you tried to tell your friends about it, you kept saying, “It was just... I can’t even describe it!”

That’s exactly what happened to a prophet named Ezekiel! God gave him a glimpse into heaven, and when he tried to describe what he saw, he could barely find words that matched the awesomeness of it all.

Here’s what Ezekiel saw: A massive whirlwind split open the sky, and he could see straight into heaven! There were amazing creatures (later we find out they were special angels called cherubim) surrounding God’s throne. Lightning was flashing everywhere, and above it all was God’s throne, which looked like it was made of brilliant blue sapphire stone, one of the most beautiful gems in the world!

Sitting on the throne was Someone who looked like a man, but He was glowing with fire and radiating light so bright it was almost blinding. A rainbow covered the whole scene, making it even more spectacular. When Ezekiel saw all this, he fell flat on his face because the glory of God was so overwhelming!

Ezekiel was seeing God on His throne. The same throne He sits on right now! An old hymn says, “God is still on the throne, and He will remember His own.” No matter what problems you’re facing today, God is still ruling from His throne in heaven. He’s still in control, He still loves you, and He still has the power to help you with whatever you’re going through.

Think About It: When you’re worried, scared, or facing a problem that seems too big to handle, close your eyes and imagine God on His throne. Picture Him surrounded by glory, light, and power. Remember that this same powerful God loves YOU and is watching over YOUR life. How does it change your perspective on your problems when you remember that the God of the universe cares about you personally? Ask Him to help you with whatever you’re facing today!
