Build Up You Faith: Under God’s Word
For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. Romans 15:4
Think about an umbrella for a minute. What’s it for? An umbrella protects you from getting soaked when it’s raining or shields you from getting sunburned when it’s really sunny. You get under an umbrella to find protection and safety.
The Bible is like a giant umbrella that covers every area of our lives! When we live “under” God’s Word, we’re protected by His wisdom and guidance. The Bible gives us direction for how to treat our friends, how to handle money, how to deal with difficult people, and how to make good choices.
The Bible is full of verses that describe God’s Word as a source of life and wisdom. It’s like food that makes us grow spiritually strong, like a light that shows us which way to go, and like a treasure chest full of valuable truths.
We can live under the “umbrella” of Scripture in two important ways: First, by reading and studying the Bible on our own every day. Second, by going to church where we sit under the teaching and preaching of God’s Word with other believers.
If we want to grow a strong spiritual life, we need both of these! Reading the Bible on our own helps us have a personal relationship with God. Learning from Bible teachers at church helps us understand things we might miss on our own.
Take Action: Are you living under the “umbrella” of God’s Word? Make a plan for both personal Bible reading and attending church regularly. Maybe you could read one chapter of the Bible each day, or work through a book like Proverbs or one of the Gospels. And try to make it to church every week! When we stay under the protective umbrella of God’s Word, we’re much more likely to make wise choices and live a life that makes God happy.

PARTNER WITH us

As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, the importance of family has always been a core value in my life. I have been a pastor for decades, watching families grow and generation after generation come up in faith. That is why Bible Strong Kids is so important to me. What better legacy to leave for our children and grandchildren than to raise them up in faith, strengthening them for the journey ahead all the way into adulthood?
I hope you will join us in this endeavor to create the next generation of Bible Strong Kids—children who know their worth in God’s eyes and are equipped to shine His light in an increasingly dark world.
