Bible Dads: Job, A Great Pray-er
Job…. was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil. He had seven sons and three daughters. Job 1:1-2
Have you ever had someone give you a big hug that made you feel super loved and special? Someone once said, "The most precious jewels you'll ever have around your neck are the arms of your children." That means hugs from kids are worth more than all the diamonds and rubies in the world!
Job was a dad in the Bible who really loved his children. He had a big family—seven boys and three girls! And guess what? Even though Job was a very busy and important man, he always made time to pray for his children.
Whenever Job's kids got together for birthday parties (and with ten kids, they must have had LOTS of parties!), Job would wake up early the next morning and pray for each one of them and offer a sacrifice to God for them. He wanted to make sure that if they had done anything wrong, God would forgive them. That shows how much Job loved both his children AND God!
We don't offer animal sacrifices like Job did, but we can still pray for people we care about. The Bible says in James 5:16 that "the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective" (NIV). That means when we pray, God really listens and powerful things happen!
Jesus even prayed for His friends. He once told Peter, "Simon, Simon! Satan has asked to test you like wheat that gets shaken up. But I have prayed for you!" (Luke 22:31-32). Wow! Jesus Himself prayed for His friends!
If your mom or dad prays for you, you are super blessed! Their prayers are like an invisible shield of God's love around you. And guess what? You can pray for others too! No matter how old you are, God hears your prayers just as clearly.
Take Action: Who prays for you? How does that make you feel? Who are some people you could pray for? Make a colorful prayer card with pictures or names of people you want to remember in your prayers.

PARTNER WITH us

As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, the importance of family has always been a core value in my life. I have been a pastor for decades, watching families grow and generation after generation come up in faith. That is why Bible Strong Kids is so important to me. What better legacy to leave for our children and grandchildren than to raise them up in faith, strengthening them for the journey ahead all the way into adulthood?
I hope you will join us in this endeavor to create the next generation of Bible Strong Kids—children who know their worth in God’s eyes and are equipped to shine His light in an increasingly dark world.
