Sweet and Sour
Then I took the little book out of the angel’s hand and ate it, and it was as sweet as honey in my mouth. But when I had eaten it, my stomach became bitter. Revelation 10:10
Have you ever eaten something super yummy like a giant chocolate sundae, but then later your tummy hurt? It was SO sweet going down but not so sweet later on!
Something kind of like that happened to John in the Bible. An angel gave him a scroll (that's like an ancient book) and told him to eat it. Weird, right? The angel said it would taste as sweet as honey in his mouth but would make his stomach feel sour afterward. And that's exactly what happened!
This teaches us something cool about God's Word! Reading the Bible is always "sweet" – it's good for us and helps us know God better. But sometimes what we learn isn't always easy or fun. Some parts of the Bible tell us about hard things that will happen, or they might show us ways we need to change how we're acting.
It's like when your mom gives you medicine when you're sick. The medicine might not taste great, but it helps make you better! Even the "sour" parts of God's Word are good for us because they tell us the truth.
The Bible isn't just a book of happy stories – it tells us the WHOLE truth, even when that truth might be challenging. But that's how we grow and learn!
Take Action: Time for a Bible taste test! Find one verse that makes you happy (that's your "sweet" verse) and another verse that might be harder to follow (that's your "sour" verse). Share them with your family and talk about why we need both kinds of verses to grow strong in our faith!

PARTNER WITH us

As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, the importance of family has always been a core value in my life. I have been a pastor for decades, watching families grow and generation after generation come up in faith. That is why Bible Strong Kids is so important to me. What better legacy to leave for our children and grandchildren than to raise them up in faith, strengthening them for the journey ahead all the way into adulthood?
I hope you will join us in this endeavor to create the next generation of Bible Strong Kids—children who know their worth in God’s eyes and are equipped to shine His light in an increasingly dark world.
