Build Up Your Faith: Wise Words
My son, pay attention to my wisdom; lend your ear to my understanding, that you may preserve discretion, and your lips may keep knowledge. Proverbs 5:1-2
Do you know what’s really cool about the book of Proverbs in the Bible? It was written by the wisest king who ever lived, King Solomon. Proverbs is basically like a dad giving his son the best life advice ever! The first nine chapters of Proverbs are full of a father’s instructions to his son about how to live a wise, good, and smart life. Throughout these chapters, the father keeps saying things like, “My son, pay attention to my wisdom” and “Listen carefully to what I’m teaching you.”
Someone once said, “A chapter of Proverbs a day will keep foolishness at bay!” Since Proverbs has 31 chapters, you can read one chapter each day of the month. By the end of the month, you’ll have read through an entire book of wisdom!
The awesome thing about Proverbs is that it gives practical advice about real-life situations we face every day—like how to choose good friends, how to handle money, how to work hard, how to control your temper, and how to treat your parents. It’s like having the wisest person in the world as your personal tutor!
Take Action: This month, try reading one chapter of Proverbs each day. Today is day 13 or 14, so start with Proverbs 13 or 14! As you read, look for one piece of wisdom that you can apply to your life that day. Maybe write it on a sticky note and put it somewhere you’ll see it. At dinner, share with your family what you learned from Proverbs that day. You might be surprised how much wiser you become in just one month!

PARTNER WITH us

As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, the importance of family has always been a core value in my life. I have been a pastor for decades, watching families grow and generation after generation come up in faith. That is why Bible Strong Kids is so important to me. What better legacy to leave for our children and grandchildren than to raise them up in faith, strengthening them for the journey ahead all the way into adulthood?
I hope you will join us in this endeavor to create the next generation of Bible Strong Kids—children who know their worth in God’s eyes and are equipped to shine His light in an increasingly dark world.
