Do you know what an ambassador is? An ambassador is someone who represents their home country in a foreign country. For example, the United States has ambassadors who live in other countries and represent America there. They speak with the authority of the U.S. government and help people in that country understand what America is all about.

The apostle Paul called himself an “ambassador for Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:20). As an apostle, he spoke with God’s authority and represented heaven to people on earth. But here’s the really cool part: Paul said that EVERY Christian is a citizen of heaven (Philippians 3:20)!

Think about what that means! If you’re a Christian, heaven is your true home. You might live in America, Canada, Mexico, or somewhere else on earth right now, but those are just temporary addresses. Your real citizenship—and your permanent home—is heaven!

And if you’re a citizen of heaven, that means you’re also an ambassador for heaven! Just like ambassadors represent their home country in foreign places, you represent God’s kingdom here on earth. Your job is to show people what heaven’s values are like. That means showing love, kindness, forgiveness, honesty, and generosity.

Jesus taught that we should be “laying up treasures in heaven” (Matthew 6:19-21). That doesn’t just mean storing up rewards for ourselves. It means investing in things that matter for eternity, especially telling people about Jesus so they can become citizens of heaven too!

Action Step: This week, live like the ambassador of heaven that you are! When you’re at school, at home, or hanging out with friends, ask yourself: “Am I representing my true home well?” Look for ways to show others what God’s kingdom is like through your words and actions. Maybe you can show kindness to someone who’s usually left out, tell the truth even when lying would be easier, or forgive someone who hurt you. Every time you do something that reflects God’s character, you’re being a great ambassador for heaven!
