I’ll be back. This is Jesus’ promise to you and me. It is a promise that may be fulfilled at any moment. According to what we find in Scripture, various signs will emerge as the end of the world draws nearer, but the next event on God’s prophetic calendar is the return of the Lord in the air and the sudden Rapture of the Church. It will happen in an instant, without warning.

The purpose of First John is so we might say with confidence, “I know that I have eternal life.” It is not a matter of opinion but fact. God wants us to know with certainty that we have eternal life. …Matthew 16:27 tells us, “The Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.”

Revelation 22:12 records a similar promise: “Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.” Both passages connect the Lord’s return with rewards for our earthly efforts. In other words, we have work to do! We may not know the day or the hour of His return, but we can be ready. Let’s look at four ways we can begin preparing for Christ’s Second Coming today.
