Have you ever walked a dog and felt like you needed to grip the leash really tightly? Or maybe you’ve held onto a younger sibling’s hand while you’re walking in a parking lot. When something is important to us, we hold on tight!

That’s exactly how God wants us to “cling” to Him and the good things He teaches us! The Bible says we should “hate what is evil” and “cling to what is good.” That means we should stay far away from bad things and hold super tight to the good things God shows us.

When we read our Bibles, pray, help others, and choose to be kind instead of mean—that’s clinging to what’s good! It’s like holding onto God’s hand while we go about life each day.

The world around us has lots of things that aren’t good for us, like movies that are too scary, friends who want us to lie or cheat, or games that teach us to be mean to others. But we can choose to “cling” to the good stuff instead!

Take Action: Make a “Cling to Good” poster! Draw or write about all the good things you want to hold tight to—like reading your Bible, being kind, telling the truth, and helping your family. Put it in your room to remind you to choose good things every day. Then practice your “tight grip” by doing one good thing on your list today!
