Patient Attention

Isaac Newton is considered by many to be history’s most brilliant scientist. So what he said about his discoveries is worth noting: “If I have ever made any valuable discoveries,” he said, “it has been owing more to patient attention than to any other talent.” Do we still have the ability to give “patient attention” to anything today?

The psalmist David, I’m convinced, gained so much insight into God because he meditated on God’s Word. That is, he gave “patient attention” to the knowledge of God; he slowly thought about and prayed about things he didn’t know and understand.
