In this second volume of Tried, Tested, and Triumphant, we continue the story of Job as he endures the many calamities that came upon him without warning. This is the story of a man who is suffering greatly. After losing his children and all that he possessed materially, his misery and grief is compounded by various physical afflictions. His suffering is not relieved by the advice of the friends who come to minister and counsel him during these difficult days. Rather than bringing encouragement, Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar compound Job’s discomfort as they relate their well-meaning, but hurtful, guidance about Job’s personal failings and sin they believe are the source of his suffering.
